The Crump Ranch is operated by third generation family owners JoAnn Crump Stabb and her husband, Ed Stabb, and their two sons, Charlie and Peter. JoAnn is the granddaughter of Tom and Johanna Crump who homesteaded the ranch in 1888.

Our grandparents homesteaded the original Crump Ranch in 1888 in Warner Valley (Lake County) on the shores of “Christmas Lake”, later renamed “Crump Lake”. In 1900, they purchased additional acreage in Adel, Oregon and moved four miles south to the current ranch headquarters location. Ed & JoAnn Stabb have continued to restore and improve the ranch, and are currently growing over 2,000 acreas of alfalfa, barley, oats and peas, and a meadow hay crop. Additionally, they operate a commercial and registered Angus cow-calf herd of over 500 head.

Since 1888, the Crump Ranch has been continuously engaged in raising livestock including sheep, horses, and cattle. Since the 1940’s, black Angus cattle have been the primary breed.

All cattle are produced in accordance with rigorous quality assurance standards including a full vaccination program with boosters, deworming, and mineral supplement. All cattle are individually identified and their performance record is recorded and updated using the ranch’s computer data base.

An artificial insemination (AI) program is used on heifers and cows to assure the best genetic qualities. Registered Angus “clean-up” bulls are then turned out for those animals that may not get bred using the AI technique. Using good AI genetics, the herd’s weaning weights have steadily increased over 100 lbs. during the past three years. 600 pound weaner calves are normally available for sale in November or December.

Bass and trout fishing are excellent in Warner Valley. The irrigation canals provide great bass fishing, and Deep Creek and 20-Mile Creek provide premium trout fishing.

Crump Ranch provides some of Oregon’s finest goose and duck hunting on its grain fields and marsh lands. The goose season opens in early September and closes mid-January. Additionally, there is a large resident population of deer, antelope and big horn sheep on ranch property. Land owner preference deer tags are annually available for purchase.

The 7,000 acre Crump Ranch offers excellent hunting and fishing. The ranch has 5 miles of frontage on Crump Lake and on Deep Creek, a primary water tribuitary to Warner Valley. For guided hunting or fishing, we can recommend local guide services on our ranch property.

I came across an old photo. It proves that, at one time, Ingrid would actually get on a horse (in this case, Rocky). Go Cowgirl!
